Sunday Stash March 2, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week, and more fabric out from the declutter. I still have fabric to sort through.

The heart block went into time out. I tried Plan A for the motif under the hearts and didn’t like it. Ripped it out and went to Plan B, and didn’t like that either. Came up with a different approach and didn’t have the patience to deal with it. I wrote some notes and put them with the project. I’ll revisit it another time.

The afghan got the most attention this week because it requires no thought ...

A TaDa Moment! from The Cozy Quilter

This afternoon, I added the final stitches to my Winter Woods cross stitch!  There were lots of little stars to add in the sky of several pictures and a bit of backstitching, but not very much. I love this picture and look forward to getting it framed to hang up somewhere in my house next winter.  We have lots of snow right now, although not as much as many places north of us where roads have been closed for days on end as the snowplows try to clear the snow away.

I spent some time at the sewing machine this ...

An Accuquilt Day from Quilts....etc.

The machine was out and cutting was happening when I got done with my appointment and grocery shopping.  I didn’t finish but I did make a mess on the table and it is waiting for me to get back to work on it today.  Those on the pressing table still need to be cut. I […]

Something Missing from Quilt Paint Create

First, thanks to everyone who links up and comments. I’m a bit behind on replying, but I’ll catch up.

I’ve been working on a little of everything. All my projects are large and progress isn’t that noticeable. I decided not to make a heart block each month right now. I will finish the February block, or not, and set that project aside again.

I don’t have a sewing project going right now. I thought something would call to me during the declutter, but I’ve been through all the books, patterns, magazines and kits. Only ...

Sunday Stash February 9, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

Finally, fabric out for Traffic Jam. Some of the fabric came from the Guild and friends who donated fabric for charity quilts. The rest came from my stash.

No fabric in this week. I’m toying with the idea of a buy ban on everything this year, except what’s needed to finish projects in process. Seems like deciding not buy anything guarantees incredible deals will roll my way. Maybe it’s better to try to limit additions.

I’m about 60% through the Sewing Room Declutter Challenge. The next prompts deal with fabric and projects. Given how much has ...

Not Much Done from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday believe it or not it got up to 78 degrees – as I was writing this last night it was still 68 degrees at almost 8 PM!!  I had an acupuncture treatment at 11 and when I got home around noon it was nice enough that if it wasn’t so breezy I would have […]

The Rose Garden & Others from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday we had a dreary somewhat rainy day – you know that kind of day where is it or isn’t it going to rain, then it finally starts light rain so you don’t feel like going outside kind of day – so sewing got done. Progress on the border for The Rose Garden and the […]

Fiddling Around in the Sewing Room from Quilts....etc.

Fabric and thread wise I didn’t do a lot but I did put together a new little cart for a pressing/storage area.  I have to be picky with the skinny little spot I have for a pressing station and the little cabinet I had just wasn’t working out so I ordered this one – of […]

Warmer Weather is Here Again! from Quilts....etc.

How long will this warmer weather last – it looks like through the first week of February we are back to the 40/60 daytime to 30/50 night time. How sweet it is – we knew it would happen but cold weather will not be completely gone we all know that – in the meantime I […]

The New and the Old from Quilt Paint Create

In spite of what shows up in the Stash Report, I do have other projects.

Work has turned into something I try not to think about when I’m not there. I’m tired when I come home, and blog posts haven’t happened. That won’t change anytime soon. Posting will just take a little more planning and effort.

When my sister passed in 2023, one of the items in her crochet bag my nephew sent me was an afghan kit. It’s a C2C pattern, which means you start in the corner and crochet outward in a triangle ...

End of the Year, Can You Believe It? from Quilts....etc.

How can another whole year have gone by already?  The days and months are flying by. Yesterday I was on the floor of the sewing room laying peel and stick thin carpet squares – I am never satisfied with the floor – my chair flies across the room if there is nothing under it creating […]

How To Organize Your Sewing Room without Overwhelming Yourself from Patchwork Posse

When was the last time you walked into your sewing room and thought, Wow, this is an amazing sewing space? If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably stepped into a pile of fabric or spent a good amount of time hunting for your seam ripper. I get it—our creative spaces tend to look more like tornado zones when we’re knee-deep in current projects. Let’s change that!

Whether you’re working in a guest room, the dining room, or your dedicated sewing studio, I’ve got practical tips and great ideas to transform your space into ...

Table Runner from Quilts....etc.

I’m getting there.  I went through fabric yesterday to find backing and the batting pieces for the table runner and find what I needed – and then when I was going through fabric I ended up sorting and organizing a couple cubes – not what I intended to do but it sure is neater now.  […]

Sunday Stash June 16, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week.

I found another box of scraps in the sewing room, hiding in plain sight. Another yard+ out from going through that. I also started pulling some fabric to donate, pieces I didn’t end up using for specific projects.

Another piece from the fabric sale is going into the donate bag too. I originally thought it would make a cool back, but it was a lot smaller cut than I thought.

I still have a small pile from the fabric sale that may or may not turn into a table runner. Some of the colors ...

Sunday Stash May 26, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week, but another yard out from the declutter. I’ve sorted all the fabric I plan to sort. I have a few other things to tidy up, and then I move to a different room. I have to actually use fabric now to improve my numbers.

Yesterday I took a break from the usual and framed Gather and Give Thanks.

The frame must be hardwood because I destroyed glazing points trying to insert them. I opted to do without and used masking tape to keep the backing in place. It won’t last forever or win ...

Sunday Stash May 19, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

It’s been a crazy busy week. I didn’t get much sewing time, but I did get another 1/2 yard out from the never ending sewing room declutter. I may be decluttering that room for the rest of my life because there is So. Much. Stuff.

My Guild had their annual fabric sale yesterday. I didn’t enter the sale area until a lot of people were finished shopping. I didn’t really want to buy fabric, but I did want to support the Guild. First I looked at panels, but there weren’t many left. Then I ...

Sunday Stash May 5, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in, another half yard out through the declutter. I hope to wrap up the declutter this month.

The only finish this week was the stitching on Gardener’s Angel of Spring.

I love the result, but I didn’t enjoy stitching this as much as I thought I would. Backstitch doesn’t bother me, although I know some people hate it. I can’t seem to put my finger on what I didn’t care for.

This was my first venture into the world of variegated overdyed floss. The pattern called for Weeks Dye Works, and that’s ...

Sunday Stash April 28, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in, but more out as part of the sewing room declutter.

My art quilt group met this week and decided to stop passing the challenge quilts through summer. With time to work on whatever I want, I pulled out Gather and Give Thanks to decide how to finish it.

When I stitched it, I saw it finishing as a pillow. Just for fun I auditioned it with a couple frames and found one I really liked. I’ll save the pillow idea for another project.

I also resumed quilting Remember Me, but that will take a while to ...

Sunday Stash April 21, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week.

I finished the April Challenge quilt, named Freeze Frame, for .75 yards out and more went out from the declutter progress.

The next task on the quilt list is labelling a quilt I entered in a show. I believe a label is required, although I did write the quilt info on the back in permanent marker.

Once that’s done, it’s back to quilting Remember Me.

Fabric In: .33 yards

Fabric out: 13.125 yards

Net Fabric Used: 12.795 yards

How did you do this week?
